Book Distribution in MP

The book distribution party of ISKCON Ujjain is distributing books all over Madhya Pradesh and in other states also. There are around 8 temple brahmacharis in the team headed by His Grace Vijayananda Prabhu. The sankirtan vehicle travels not only in Madhya Pradesh, but occasionally all over India as well in order to distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books. The vehicle goes for a trip of around 15 days before returning to Ujjain to rest for a few days, only to make another trip for another 15 days. Even after the Book Distribution Marathon period has passed, the devotees are enthusiastically distributing books, just to please Guru Maharaja and Srila Prabhupada.

The devotees each distribute around 3 or 4 copies of the Bhagavad Gita, an equal number of Krishna books, about 6 to 8 medium books and 10 – 15 small books of Srila Prabhupada daily on an average. In a week, the entire party distributes 3 sets of Srimad Bhagavatam also. While in the trip, the morning programs are maintained just as they are in the temple – the devotees wake up at around 4:00 AM, attend Mangala Arati, chanting session and a discussion on Srila Prabhupada’s books in the morning before taking breakfast prasadam. Then at around 11:30 AM they go out in different directions to distribute books, only to return in the evening at about 7:00 PM. Then they take their dinner prasadam, discussing with each other about the day’s experiences and go to bed early at around 9:30 PM, to wake up for another day of enthusiastic book distribution. On an average, the book distribution score is about Rs.60, 000/- in a 15 day trip.
